YOU! Honestly if you are a Twitch streamer that is excited by the idea of playing MS-DOS games for a month, then you are already the right person for the event!
Any Twitch streamer can join! We are all here to have fun and make new friends.
DOSember is an inclusive event, whether it's your first time playing a DOS game or you are a lifelong enthusiast. If you're looking for help getting a game running, learning DOSBox, building a vintage PC, or just looking for some game suggestions, consider hanging out with us in the Retro Computer Events Discord. There are so many kind and wonderful people in there that would love to help! The Retro PC Gaming Community on Twitch is by far the most welcoming group of people.
We aren't big on rules and restrictions, we just want you to have fun with us!
Stream games on Twitch that are or did originate on DOS throughout the month of December. DOS Games, DOSBox, source ports of DOS games, reduxes, HD remasters etc are ALL welcome! Use whatever input devices, tools, and other methods you need to enjoy these classics; of course, you get imaginary bonus points for utilizing real hardware. ;)
Support the other DOSember streamers participating alongside you with shout-outs, raids, and general excitement for their streams.
Promote the yearly DOSember T-Shirt. It’s cool!
When streaming be sure to use the #DOSember Twitch tag as the Twitch link on the main page is actually a search result for that tag. This is also required by our website to display you as live on the front page.
HAVE FUN!
Anyone who signs up to participate BEFORE November 14th will get their name on the back of the shirt. (It needs to be designed and ready for sale by December 1st; that's the only reason for the cut-off date)
The T-Shirt money has been used at the end of December to do something nice for people in the Retro PC Community on Twitch. In the past this has been anything from sub bombing a newly affiliated streamer to buying vintage MIDI equipment for someone who is making new MIDI music. As the event grows we may donate a portion of the money to an appropriate organization; video game preservation, for example. We have also been considering the viability of building it up as a DOSember fund for the PC Retro Community on Twitch to help people out year-round.
If you have any ideas on ways we can use the money collected from the T-Shirt sales to better our community, please message ArtyomHavok.
If you would like to join the community participating in the event, you are welcome and encouraged to join the Retro Computer Events Discord.
You can now edit your games list yourself if you would like. Just return to the sign-up page after you have been activated on the website and you will see a [Click here to access your Games List] button.
Just click the button below and authenticate through Twitch. That is it. The DOSember team will get a ping and activate you on the website as soon as they can.
We are grabbing your profile image, about section, stream thumbnail, live status, and the next 14 days of your twitch schedule page. We do this so that your amazing channel can be shown in as much detail as possible.
