That's right, we have some amazing community events to share with you! This year we have a fantastic Pixel Art event and a Pinball Leaderboard! Keep reading for more details. Each of these events are created by DOSember community members and are shaping up to be quite interesting. If you have any questions, please reach out to the event runners in our Discord or find them on Twitch.

First up, for the artists and creatives out there, check out this:

DOSember Pixel Jam

An amazing event has been put together by @s1gnal to test your pixel art skills with some fun and interesting challenges.

Pixel Jam Rules

General
  • The event will be held on the Retro Computer Events Discord server, and streamed live to Twitch on Dec 19th at 11PM (UTC). All participants must be present in the voice channel 15 minutes prior.
  • No artwork can be done prior to the event.
  • Participants must draw their entries on a canvas sized at 64 by 40 pixels. The working document itself can be bigger, but the final art piece must be presented at 64x40.
  • Drawing tablet is allowed without utilizing features like tilt or pressure sensitivity.
  • Only colors specified in the event palette can be used.
  • Participants have access to ONE extra color of choice in the color palette. This must not be transparent.
  • Drawing starts from scratch when the 30 minute countdown timer starts.
  • Theme and mutators will be announced live prior to drawing. Mutators are optional rules that can be used as a challenge.
  • Work process must be screenshared live on Discord.
Only the following tools are allowed:
  • Pencil & eraser
  • Basic geometry shapes
  • Fill tool & color picker
  • Selection & duplicating selected elements
The following are not allowed:
  • Layers & blending modes
  • Transparency
  • Special brushes or textures
  • Colors not specified in the color palette
  • Vectors or 3D in any shape or form
  • External images in any fashion

Scores will be shown on our big video wall all month, and submissions by Twitch clip, video recording, or screenshot are accepted for the following categories: High score, Best Physics Glitch, and Fastest Game Over.  Make sure we know your 3-letter handle! We'd love to see your entries - join the fun and play some pinball!
