Next up in our special series where we interview the streamers of Dosember, today we interview Lelouchhero!
Lelouchhero has been playing games their whole life. An avid explorer of the weird and potentially jank has allowed them to appreciate each game for what they are. They're always excited to see where a game might take them. When Lelouchhero isn't hanging out or lurking in streams, they are spending time with their cat, and enjoying some classic games.
How did you first hear about the Dosember event, and what inspired you to participate?
I first heard about Dosember a few years ago while watching a retro streams and I thoroughly enjoyed what I saw. I decided to participate because I thought it a fun way to challenge myself to play games I haven't played in long time.
Can you tell us a bit about the Dosember community? What makes it unique compared to other streaming events?
The community around Dosember is extremely welcoming and the event itself is very relaxed. Which makes the focus to just have great time while spreading love of DOS.
Was there a particular person or experience that inspired you to join the community of DOS game streamers?
I don't think it was any one particular person that inspired me to join, but seeing everyone share their love of games they stream made want to participate.
What are some of the DOS games you’re planning to stream this year, and why did you choose them?
Heroes of Might and Magic II, LOOM, Master of Magic, Beneath a Steel Sky. I remember playing them when I was younger and haven't played them since then and I thought it would be a great time to.
Do you have a favourite MS-DOS game? If so, what makes it special to you?
The Secret of Monkey Island is my favourite DOS game. When I was younger the way it presented itself blew me away and it's charm has stuck with me since.
Have you encountered any interesting challenges or memorable moments while preparing to stream your chosen DOS games? How have you approached them?
I haven't encountered any challenges yet, but I did have DOS-BOX crash my computer while setting it up.
What’s one thing you hope viewers take away from watching your Dosember streams?
I hope my viewers take away that it's all about having a good time and enjoying each game for what they are and appreciating them for it.
What’s a goal you’re setting for yourself during Dosember, whether it’s a streaming milestone, completing a game, or something else?
The goals I've set for myself during Dosember is to finish a few of the games that I've played when I was younger and to stream consistently for the first time in years.
How would you encourage someone who’s never experienced MS-DOS games to tune into Dosember?
There is a wild world of experimentation happening on the MS-DOS which is worth seeing.
Are there any moments or features in the games you’re streaming that you’re especially excited to share with viewers?
I'm excited to share the quirkiness of LOOM with viewers.
How does Dosember help you connect with your viewers differently than your regular streams?
I think it allows everyone to view each game fresh eyes and share stories of their time with the game.
What’s the one thing you’d tell your younger self who first played DOS games about streaming them now?
To relax and have a great time.
